You will be the frontperson / ambassador and ultimately responsible for this customer-oriented & strongly internationally oriented company with a focus on growing and grafting organic vegetable plants for growers, Home & Gardening and retail throughout Europe. You are responsible for and provide direction to the production, commerce, purchasing, logistics and staff departments in cooperation with the Board. You fulfill a management role in monitoring and improving the production efficiency, procedures & processes and the profitability of the company. You have a driving role in closely following sector developments (including developments on growers level and organics) and translating these into opportunities and threats for GrowOrganiX. You have an exemplary function for your permanent employees (12-15 fte) & seasonal workers ( up to 80) and address your responsible team leaders on the realization of the established company objectives.
Tasks / responsibilities
- Operational management of the company;
- In cooperation with the Board responsible for drawing up, implementing and directing the corporate strategy of GrowOrganiX; determining operational and commercial policy;
- Drawing up and implementing the annual business plan; identifying any risks and deviations and adjusting them if necessary;
- Negotiating and approving contracts with important suppliers (including raw materials and materials), procurement of strategic resources such as energy;
- Monitoring progress of production planning (optimizing space occupancy); finding solutions for seasonal peaks;
- Implementing measures to improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness;
- Drawing up budgets, operations and (monthly) reports; monitoring cash flow position;
- Monitoring pre- and post-calculation of customer orders and ensuring an increase in the profit margin at customer level;
- Accountability to the board members regarding vision and business strategy;
- Periodically assess performance & development of employees; determine reward structure;
- Exploring and tapping into new markets and entering into strategic partnerships;
- Signing authority for contracts and investments within GrowOrganiX.

You identify opportunities and know how to translate them via (un)beaten paths into actions that contribute to a better business result.
Job requirements:
- 7-10 years of work experience as a person ultimately responsible; experience as a manager within a medium-sized SME company is a plus;
- Affinity with growing young plants (possibly organic cultivation and / or grafting) and the international (glass) horticulture sector;
- Bsc – Msc thinking and working level; horticultural or business education;
- Experience as a change manager and guardian of the GrowOrganix DNA;
- Strong financial background;
- Good command of the English language; German is a plus.
