Office location: Canada.

Our Client located in Canada is a well-known greenhouse builder and installer with roots in the Netherlands.  They build greenhouses, design and realize heating systems and irrigation systems and work with other parties in the field of climate automation. Their goal is to offer turn-key projects to their greenhouse horticulture customers in vegetables and ornamental crops.
To expand and further professionalize their management, they are looking for a General Manager.

Your role


  • Provide strong leadership to all employees, ensuring teamwork and good employee relations at all levels;
  • Directs and coordinates all department activities to develop and implement long-range goals and objectives to meet business and profitability growth objectives;
  • Guarding procedures and necessary coaching/correction/follow-up related to Network planning for project executions;
  • Keeps management informed by reviewing and analyzing special reports; summarizing information, identifying trends;
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies;
  • Further development of a high-performance organization for company’s current and future success;
  • Oversee organizing office/field operations, systems and procedures;
  • Be involved in the development of automated systems and define procedures for retention, protection, retrieval, transfer and disposal of records;
  • To follow the policies and procedures and manage the business as required legally, ethically, and by standards of good practice in the business;
  • Ensure that the company operates in accordance with all legal and ethical requirements;
  • Ensure insurance is valid and current;
  • To continuously strive to improve relations with employees, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders;
  • To maintain productive relationships with regulatory authorities/government;
  • Excellent rapport with field team with a good listening ear to their voices and providing prompt practical feedback/replies and follow-up.


  • Ensure the business is focused on delivering positive results for the company;
  • Guarding the project calculations by analyzing the project results together with the senior accountant;
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions;
  • Responsibility for checking and final submit of payments both local and overseas. (4 -eye principle);
  • Double check contract administration is 100%;
  • Overseeing weekly cash flow and A/R reports. Make and maintain spreadsheets for the purpose;
  • Purchase foreign valuta both spot and forwards mainly Euro. Follow daily Foreign Exchange reports and be aware of trends;
  • Quarterly P&L report presentation on projects together with reviews of projects budget for clarification/corrections with project manager.


  • Keep in close contact with HR and liaison between field / office staff ( observer);
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed;
  • Oversee office staff, and training employees, and be involved in the field side of HR. Ensure evaluations are done fairly and accurately;
  • Oversee and assist a well functioning administrative team:
    – Maintains office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems, layouts, and equipment procurement;
    – Designs and implements policies by establishing standards and procedures; measuring results against standards; making necessary adjustments;
    – Develop/adjust, implement, and guard effective management systems.

Do you recognize yourself in the following profile?

  • At least 5 years of work experience in a comparable management position;
  • Bsc working and thinking level and preferably a business administration or MBA study;
  • Analytical and results-oriented;
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills;
  • Independent, collegial, pragmatic and stress-resistant;
  • Organizing, planning and monitoring is second nature to you and comes very easily to you;
  • Excellent command of the English language, spoken and written,
  • Willingness to settle in Canada.
