Your Job

The focus of the Team Lead part of the job is to build and coach a professional trialling team in the Netherlands that delivers efficient and effective results. You ensure the operational needs of the different crops to implement the Product Development (PD) plan. To achieve this, you team up with the departments Farm, Breeding and Sales to make sure the Product Development objectives are secured.
You manage a team of 4 Trial Technicians in different crops in approximately 10 breeding segments. You are responsible for the trial execution in Carrot crops and you report to the Head of Trials in EMEA. You and your team are impactful on future assortment development and positioning with key customers in the market, contributing to growing concept development to maximize variety potential.

As Trial Technician  you organize, set up and execute trials defined by the specialists in PD. You contribute to the local trial plan creation and assure aspects related to the management of the culture, pursuing overall trial representativeness to make sure the crop ends its cycle in the trials without incidents.
You assure that the work of selection, evaluation is correctly done with the necessary people involved.
You use market understanding and data analysis, to make clear elevation proposals for the local market needs, aligned with the Local and Regional SPDs. Furthermore you contribute to the development of product growing concepts.
You act as technical support for the local sales team, providing local growing advice, variety information (based on experiences and data) and support demand creation and specific product related issues. This part of the job will take approximately 60 % of your time.

Major Accountabilities As Team Lead Trial

  • Coach and develop the trialing team and monitors the quality and efficiency;
  • Optimize the quality and efficiency of trial resources to meet the trial plan;
  • Make sure procedures and tools in PD are aligned across crops and implemented;
  • Coordinate with specialists in PD and breeders, farm colleagues and sales teams, to understand needs of each crop and regularly evaluate satisfaction;
  • Support change management for PD processes and tooling implementation, including the effort towards excellence and digitalization of Screenings and Trials.

Your profile

  • A Bsc degree in agronomics with 3-5 years of relevant experience or a Msc degree with 1-3 years of experience;
  • 1-3 years of experience in managing/guiding teams;
  • Native in Dutch and a good understanding of the English language (B2 level);
  • Advanced problem solving-, experimentation- and planning & organizing skills;
  • Ability to manage budgets and analyze data.

  • Taking initiative and accountability and show ownership;
  • Customer- and result orientation with a commercial mindset;
  • Team management competences.

This job requires domestic travel to visit trials, team and customers. You also
understand that you will encounter extended working hours during peak season.
